Peter Close - Bio

One of the most important aspects of kinesiology to me is that when I receive a balance I am in complete control of the process. It is my body that holds the answers and it is through the skill of the practitioner and muscle monitoring that those answers can come into the light. That is something I keep foremost in mind as I work with other people.

image name I moved to the Brisbane area from Vancouver Canada in 2008 after completing a diploma in Geomatics Engineering and began work as a surveyor. Shorty after arriving in Australia I found myself at a ten day Vipassana Meditation which fit in neatly with my spiritual understanding at the time. In addition to reinforcing certain ideas regarding attachment to people, places and things, Vipassana introduced me to the interconnectedness of the body, mind and spirit.
It was in the fall of 2010 that I met the woman I have since married, Lynda, who introduced me to Holotropic Breathwork. Holotropic Breathwork is an incredibly powerful meditation/breathing technique which takes the participant on an inner journey of self exploration. The practice of Holotropic Breathwork incorporates enhanced states of awareness as manifested through the breath and invocative music as well as the opportunity for bodywork after the breath session. It was this powerful modality which gave a name to the sense I had felt for quite some time. It was the sense that our bodies had an inherent wisdom, beyond our daily consciousness, which could guide us to Wholeness if only given the chance. They called it ‘The Inner Healer’; a part of myself (and I believe everyone else too) which I have endeavored to know and trust on a conscious level ever since.

After completing 3 Vipassana 10 day meditations in Pomona Queensland and several Holotropic breathwork workshops between Queensland, Tasmania and California, I knew that healing involved the mind body connection. In my own journey I found that, although incredibly helpful in understanding the problems at hand, traditional therapy on its own had little effect in helping me heal trauma and changing destructive behavior patterns. The deep and profound healing and growth I had been searching for came from modalities that incorporated all aspects of the human experience; the mind, body and spirit.
After having experienced Kinesiology for myself over a number of years, in 2013 I was drawn to study Neuroenergetic Kinesiology. For me, this branch of kinesiology most effectively encompassed both the intelligence of the Inner Healer and the interconnection between the body (structural), mind (mental & emotional) and energy (biochemical) structures. Through the skill of muscle monitoring the practitioner is able to assess the stress levels in any of the body’s structures. After the source of the stress has been identified, muscle monitoring allows the practitioner to find what would be the most appropriate correction technique to correct the imbalance. This eliminates the need for guess work, thereby making the corrections very efficient. One of the most important aspects of kinesiology to me is that when I receive a balance I am in complete control of the process. It is my body that holds the answers and it is through the skill of the practitioner and muscle monitoring that those answers can come into the light. That is something I keep foremost in mind as I work with other people.
Please see the page ‘Kinesiology’ for more information on the process.

Keep an eye on this space for exciting news on our Sound Meditation

"Peter and Lynda's meditation space is peaceful and serene, and the atmosphere they create is warm and welcoming. After attending several group sessions, I felt more connected and present. This helped me greatly as at the time I was suffering anxiety and depression. Peter and Lynda's passion is ever present from the moment you arrive to the sharing of delicious homemade corn bread after the session. I would highly recommend sound mediations to anyone suffering from anxiety, depression or feeling overwhelmed by life."

Tibetan Singing Bowls - What are they?

Tibetan Singing Bowls have been used for centuries for healing and meditation purposes. They create a range of sounds to help remove stress and encourage the normal vibration frequencies of diseased and out-of-harmony parts of the body, mind and soul.
It is said that the Singing Bowls of Tibet emit the “Sound of the Void”; the sound of the universe manifesting. They are a symbol of the ’unknowable’ and date back to the Buddha, Shakyamni (560-480 BC).
The energy waves that ring from Tibetan Singing Bowls wake up our ability to hear with more than our ears. We feel the sounds of the Tibetan Singing Bowls as much as we take it in through our auditory senses. Unique tones fill the room creating a space perfect for deep meditation, creative thinking and intuitive messages. The sounds produced by Tibetan Singing Bowls are a type of energy medicine that help to boost your body’s inherent ability to recover from stress disorders, pain, depression, and many other forms of dis-ease.

“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”

Mitchell Gaynor, M.D. a New York oncologist and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University has been using sound healing practices since the early 1990s. He is the author of “The Healing Power of Sound: Recovery from Life-Threatening Illness using Sound, Voice, and Music.

Tibetan Singing Bowls - How can they help?

To put it simply – the vibration of the bowls can help relieve stress in the body allowing the body to naturally heal itself.

The video to the right is an example of the sound that a Tibetan Singing Bowl can make.
There are many variations to the effect of the Tibetan Singing Bowl.

It can be said that illness is a manifestation of dis-harmony within the body—an imbalance in the cells or a given organ. As every particle in the universe, including those which make up our body’s, has a vibration, the sounds from Tibetan Singing Bowls may affect the mind and body in such a way that they induce deep meditative and peaceful states, clarity of mind, and intuition. The sounds can influence our nervous system, increasing relaxation and possibly helping to reduce physical stress or pain in the body. Through listening to Tibetan Singing Bowls one’s internal dialogue, the ’inner critic’ is quieted. Their sound can enhance awareness of the mind/body connection.
Using Tibetan Singing Bowls for improved health is also based on the idea that all illness or disease is characterized by a hindrance to the flow of energy in the body. When energy flow is hindered, the organ or tissue in question stops vibrating at a healthy frequency, and thus it results in some kind of weakness or illness. The sound frequencies created by Tibetan Singing Bowls can help the body restore and optimize the flow of energy in the parts of the body where this is required.
Tibetan Singing Bowls may also have an effect on the body through the Chakra system. Most literature discusses seven main chakras but there are literally hundreds of vortexes of energy all over the body.
Chakras are the connection between the spiritual aspect of our being and the physical. There is an endocrine gland associated with 7 of the main chakras.
In the Indian system of healing, when a physical dysfunction is in place, one or more chakras are considered to be blocked or unbalanced.
Unbalanced chakras can be reflected in a whole range of mental, emotional and physiological dysfunctions.

Chakra balancing is used to correct the chakra so that the endocrine gland and all the associated structures and organs effected by that gland balance and begin to function correctly. Historically, chakra balancing has been done in a number of ways but it has been most effectively done by someone who has the capability to either feel or see (or both) the chakras and their state of unbalance. They then use energy healing techniques to adjust and balance them. Please see the section regarding “Neuroenergetic Kinesiology” on the "Kinesiology" page for further information on another powerful modality offered by bhAHsatya.
Tibetan Singing Bowls naturally help chakras to self correct. The sound waves interact with the unbalanced chakras bringing them back to normal functioning. The result is balanced chakras which then in turn enhance cellular and systemic healing throughout the body.

Kinesiology

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology (pronounced kin-e-see-ology) is a combination of ancient eastern science and western muscle monitoring.

The western aspect of Kinesiology was discovered in the 1960’s by chiropractor Dr George Goodheart when he found that the testing of muscle strength could be used to gather information from the body. The eastern aspect involves many aspects including Chinese medicine techniques of acupressure, meridian systems and chakra systems. Neuroenergetic Kinesiology in particular makes incredible use of those systems. It functions with the human energetic structures, the psyche, and anatomy and physiology.

The stress which may be held in a physical, mental or chemical structure can be accessed by touching specific acupressure points in a certain order. The monitoring of the indicator muscle then allows the practitioner to assess the level of stress in that area. In this way, the practitioner may help the client bring into consciousness something which may be influencing the day to day life of the client in un-conscious and possibly destructive ways (effecting emotional, mental, physical health, ect).

The client, through their mind/body/spirit connection, is in complete control of the session, or ‘balance’ as it is called. It is their body, through the indicator muscle, that tells the practitioner where the stress in their system is located and what is needed to relieve that stress thus bringing the return of balance to the system.

Kinesiology - What to Expect?

A typical balance will begin with a short discussion where the client will let me know what issue they would like to work with during their session. Then, with the client fully clothed and lying on a massage table in a safe and comfortable environment, I will proceed to identify areas of stress as indicated by the client through muscle monitoring. Once the stress relating to the clients issue has been uncovered there is a correction. This correction may range from a color or sound, an essence, specific acupressure points, and so on. The entire process is gentle and often very relaxing. It is not unusual that client may even sleep peacefully through their session and benefit not only from a great balance but from a nap as well.
The results of a balance may be immediate but the body may also take several days to fully process the correction. It is not uncommon for the body to need some time as, with Neuroenergetic Kinesiology, the corrections work at such a deep level (literally, sometimes at the cellular level).

Kinesiology - Areas of Application

Areas where Neuroenergetic Kinesiology may be helpful include:

Depression Anxiety Chronic Fatigue Concentration Motivation Blood Pressure
Self Awareness Hearing/Vision Muscular Pain Memory Immune System Life Issue Resolution

This is not an exhaustive list. Please Contact Us with any questions about whether Neuroenergetic Kinesiology may be for you.

Reiki

Dr Mikao Usui was the Japanese scholar who rediscovered the Reiki formula in an ancient Sanskrit sutra back in the early 1900’s. It was Dr Usui who coined the word ‘Reiki’ to describe the nature of the energy that this technique involves. He combined two Japanese words: Rei, meaning “universal”, and Ki, meaning “life-force energy”.

image name

What is Reiki?

The word ‘Reiki’ (pronounced ray-key) can be used in reference to two things. First, it can refer to the ‘universal life-force energy’ which flows through every plant, animal, man, woman and child. Everyone has Reiki. Second, it can refer to the practice or technique of transferring that ‘universal life-force energy’ through one person to another.
Reiki as a practice is a technique for relaxation and reducing stress which promotes healing in the client. During the session Reiki Energy is transferred through the practitioner to the client by placing their hands on or near the client’s body. That energy then flows to exactly where it is needed for maximum benefit at that point in time. Although the practitioner uses their hands, Reiki is not a massage. Clothing is worn at all times during the session.
I have been trained in ‘The Original 7 Level System’ of Reiki and am a member of; The Association of the Seven Level System of Reiki.

Reiki - How can it help?

Peter Close
As is described on our page for sound meditation, the benefits to Reiki can be found in its ability to help the body restore and optimize the flow of energy where it is most required in the body. Weakness or illness in the organs or tissue can be the result of blocked or unbalanced energy flow through the body. Reiki energy is said to be ‘universal’ because it is the basic energy common to all living things. As this energy is required for the various activities and functions of the body, mind and spirit Reiki may be able to assist with a wide variety of illness and dis-ease whether it be spiritual, physical, mental or emotional.
While I believe that everyone can both receive and transmit Reiki, for maximum benefit, a trained practitioner should be seen. The difference between an untrained individual and a trained practitioner would be, to use a modern analogy, the difference between slow dial-up internet, and fast high-speed broadband – it’s all about bandwidth. During the training a practitioner is ‘attuned’ to the Reiki energy which allows them to channel an increase amount of life-force energy without depleting their own energy.
